2009 is almost at a close, and 2010 is just around the corner.
How many of you are prepared for the new year and what it has to bring for your business?
Internet marketing in 2009 was hard for a lot of people. Unfortunately, the majority of internet marketers are still failing at getting where they want to be. And guess what….
It’s not going to get any easier in 2010.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that internet marketing as we know it is dead or anything like that. What I’m saying is that you have to have a different game plan than everyone else if you really want to succeed in 2010.
The good thing is that the majority of internet marketers are still following a lot of the same patterns which makes it easier for you to get ahead of your competition and hopefully eliminate them all together.
Yes, I said it. Eliminate your competition.
You will hear me say this a lot, but I will keep saying it because it is one of the key factors to your success:
Internet Marketing is a business.
And if you are not treating it as one, then you are really wasting your time.
So how can you be different in 2010?
Here are some simple tips that can help you get ahead in 2010:
1. Stay on top of everything the search engines are doing, especially Google.
- Knowing what is going on takes out most of the guess work. It also allows you to say ahead of your competition since most people do not do this. I see so many people talking about their sites getting de-indexed, or getting slapped by Google, or being shocked at a recent update, etc…The reality is that if you just pay attention, so many headaches can be avoided.
2. Do your research thoroughly.
- Most marketers do not spend enough time analyzing their competition completely. The majority just grab some keywords that look good and “go for it”. This is not enough. You must look at what types of pages are ranking, where your competition is getting backlinks and how many, look at their content, etc…The more you know the easier it is to create a workable and successful battle plan.
3. Create real goals.
- Not those “I want to make 1 million dollars this year” types of goals. I’m talking about realistic, workable goals. It’s not impossible to make 1 million in a year, but you need to break down your goals into smaller goals in order to succeed. I have yearly, monthly, weekly, and daily goals. This allows me to always be moving forward towards my larger goals, remain focused and motivated, see results, and save lots of time.
4. Manage your time wisely.
- This is simple and extremely effective, but most people neglect it. How many times have you started gone online to do some only to find that an hour or so later, you are doing something totally unrelated to what you set out to do? It happens to the best of us. Make sure that when you are going to do a task, set a time limit and do nothing else until that task is completed.
5. Take real action.
- Reading internet marketing products is not taking action. Watching videos is not taking action. Answering emails is not taking action. Participating in forums is not taking action…I think you get the point. Every action you take must be a step forward to completing your goals.
6. Get a business journal.
- I don’t know why anyone would not have one, but most don’t. You need a place to write down all your thoughts, ideas, actions, goals, etc. I didn’t start using one until this year, and now I can’t get through a day without using it.
These tips may seem simple, but don’t discount just how effective they really are. Like I said, most people in internet marketing today still do not do the above things on a consistent basis.
If you just follow the above tips on a consistent basis, you will already be putting yourself in a much better position than the majority of your competition.
I hope you have found this post helpful. If you have, then you don’t want to miss the report I have coming your way…stay tuned. ;p
I wish you nothing but success in 2010 and beyond ^_^
